Ustream / IBM Watson Media
IBM
May 2014 – Dec 2025 USTREAM / IBM
Over more than a decade at IBM, I grew from leading technical sales for a streaming startup through its acquisition to running unified communications and AI platform strategy for the entire 300,000-person company. Along the way I built and led global teams, forged Tier-1 alliances, and helped Fortune 500 enterprises and government agencies redefine what's possible with streaming, AI, and enterprise collaboration.
Head of Unified Communications & AI Platforms — CIO Office (2022 – 2025)
After a reorganization of IBM Watson Media, I moved into IBM's CIO Office to own global UC and AI platform strategy, architecture, and operations for 300,000+ employees — voice, video, collaboration, conferencing, and AI enablement — on a $100M technology and labor budget.
-
Consolidated Webex and BlueJeans into Microsoft Teams in seven months (half the projected timeline) for $30M+ in annual savings.
-
Served as IBM's "Client Zero" for Microsoft Copilot, piloting enterprise AI productivity (speech-to-text, intelligent video analytics, conversational AI) across the workforce.
-
Achieved 98% uptime and 99% user satisfaction while cutting incident resolution time by 40% through ITIL and Agile transformation.
-
Led global cross-functional technical teams and managed complex vendor and partner relationships across Microsoft, Slack, Webex, and Box.
Director, Strategic Partnerships & Technical Sales — IBM Watson Media (2019 – 2022)
Promoted to rebuild and scale IBM's global enterprise-video partner function, which had been struggling to deliver. I owned partner strategy, monetization, solution architecture, and enterprise revenue growth across commercial and regulated markets.
-
Grew platform revenue from $10M to $50M, with 10x partner growth and sustained 30% YoY channel growth.
-
Co-developed AI and media solutions with Samsung, AT&T, and Sony.
-
Secured a five-year enterprise AI and video contract with the U.S. Navy, and delivered AI and video solutions across defense, federal, and judicial agencies — including NASA, the U.S. Army, DHS, CDC, FBI, DOJ, and multiple U.S. Courts of Appeals and state courts (enabling remote proceedings during COVID).
-
Earned IBM's 100% Club and President's Club recognition.
Manager, Sales Engineering — Ustream / IBM Watson Media (2014 – 2019)
After building DVEO into an industry leader in encoding and streaming, I was recruited by Ustream to stabilize and lead the technical sales team as the company prepared for acquisition — wearing many hats across sales operations, interim director of sales, producer, and evangelist.
-
When IBM acquired Ustream in 2016 (becoming IBM Cloud Video, then Watson Media), I grew the global sales engineering team from 2 to 15.
-
Owned technical training and enablement for IBMers on Cloud Video — Fast Starts, Sales Kickoffs, and Cloud Technical University.
-
Served as the subject-matter expert on video for a $2B project and acquisition.
-
Led special projects with Samsung, Sony, and AT&T FirstNet, and embedded AI (Watson speech-to-text, intelligent video analytics, video enrichment) into streaming deployments.
