DVEO (Computer Modules Inc)
2010 - 2014
VP, Strategic Partnerships & Product Development
When LSI exited the video and deep-packet-inspection business in 2010, I began freelance consulting on video encoding and compression. DVEO's Les Zoltan brought me in to design and bring to market a custom solution for a key customer — work that grew into DVEO's Multistreamer, Gearbox, Proxicaster, and Delay Server product lines. In 2011 I joined full-time as VP, Strategic Partnerships & Product Development, owning product design, roadmap, and development alongside partnership and channel growth.
Highlights:
-
Grew the new product line from $0 to $20M in sales by 2014.
-
Became an industry leader in Adaptive Bitrate (ABR) encoding — first to offer push and pull HLS to CDNs and via FTP (quickly adopted by Edgecast, BitGravity, and Akamai), and among the first to test HEVC.
-
Led development integration with RealNetworks across the U.S. and China.
Partnerships: RealNetworks, Geniatech, Dune HD, Amino, Minerva, Roku, Beenius
Channels: Satellite Engineering Group / TVC, Diversified, RealNetworks
OEM: Harmonic
Customers: Sinclair, Fox, Time Warner, Warner Bros., NBC, Service Electric, Petrobras, and NASA
I also published five articles in Streaming Media and presented at NAB, Streaming Media East & West, Video Expo, DVExpo, and IBC.
